like a hospital bed, which is what is needed for a sleep study.
The Sleeper Lounge Bed will be a fully electric Adjustable Bed with heavy duty casters, a Plywood Deck, Back and Leg Adjustments as well as a High-Low Feature. The reason for a High-Low Feature is to help people in and out of bed, or to transfer to a wheelchair, or to assist a Nurse in turning a Patient.

in Sleeping Surfaces for the Medical Industry. Per my request they have designed
a special Bariatric Mattress for Sleep Centers that will support the "heavy
weight" and yet be comfortable for the average person. The mattress
is 8" thick that is the max for an adjustable bed. The bottom 1/2 of
the mattress is flexible hard core and the upper part is special foam.
This means that the mattress will not bottom out when a Bariatric patient
sleeps in the bed. The mattress will have a water resistant Anti Bacterial
washable cover which you need for hospitals.
There will be 2 sets of rails: head and foot and will be mounted as closely together without disturbing the motion of the adjustments. A full rail will not work. The beds have head and foot boards which gives it more of a decorative appearance (this is optional.) All in all this is the best package that is available. I have put this together exclusively for Sleep Centers with Institutional pricing.

Proposal for Bariatric Equipment
With 65% of the population being overweight handling the severely obese patient has become a serious problem for facilities. I have put together the bare essentials that are needed to handle this special patient. Most facilities are using 700 lbs as the weight requirement for the equipment.
I use Gendron
as a supplier for most of the Bariatric
equipment that is needed. This is a company that has been manufacturing
equipment since 1872. Gendron has recognized the need and has been
manufacturing Bariatric Equipment at a reasonable cost. An exceptional
company, very reliable and makes excellent equipment.
Gendron Maxi-Rest Beds for Bariatric Patients.
Model# 4748DX 750 lbs. (1000 lb on drawing board and not available at this
time). Bed will expand from 39" X 80" to 48" X 88", Head and foot boards
are finished in Beachwood. Change size easily without having to transfer
patient. Easy to transport and store when not in use.
This model has 5 function electric features: height adjustment, (low position 15.5", high position 29.5"), fowler back rest, leg lift, trendelenburg and reverse trendelenburg. CPR Release for head end and fowler back rest. Has emergency battery back up operation. All the bells and whistles that you need without the high cost.
Mattress is 6" high density foam and has bolsters to expand with bed frame. I have added all the necessary features. SIDE RAILS (one pair head or foot end) TRAPEZE FRAME (over bed and is expandable) CASTER WHEELS....5" hospital casters, 2 locking, 2 steer casters.
This is the bed of the future available today. Has my top recommendation. Gendron has kept the quality up and the cost down.
Another Bed Choice..Big Boyz Industries
has a 1000 lb capacity bed that is either
48"-54" or 60" X 80". Has multiple positions, Battery Back up, Trapeze,
1/2 side rails, length can extend to 86". Will not adjust in width

Bariatric Walker
Non-folding walker features 850 lb capacity. Measures 22" between
the arm grips. Has a separate kit for adding wheels but the weight
drops to 500 lbs.

Adjustable trapeze bar, all steel and fully welded frames, low profile
base fits under most beds. Overall height: 68"-boom extension: 35"-

Wheeled Commode and Shower Chair
Combination Bariatric shower and commode chair. Available seat widths:

Patient Lifts
Many hospitals are instituting a lift free environment. Patient Lifts
are very necessary for moving the patient. You have a choice of 3 different

Wheelchairs There are several options
The most cost effective is the Phase Chair. This is 4 chairs
in one, a bedside chair, transport chair, recliner and stretcher combination.
Designed to Safely Assist Staff and Reduce Injury. Easily adjusts
from conventional chair position to semi-recline, full recline and full prone
position. A chair, recliner and stretcher all in one. The leg rests
elevate and are length adjustable. The foot boards fold when not needed.
Arms are height adjustable and removable. 850 lbs capacity has
an electric actuator to adjust positions. Just flip a switch to adjust
from a chair to a stretcher. Practical and cost effective.
Gendron Manual Wheelchair
Designed for patients weighing 700 to 750 pounds. Seat configurations
from 20" wide to 32" wide and 18" deep to 22" deep for client comfort,
positioning and custom fit, and folding frame construction for portability.
The arms are removable, has elevating leg rest. Exclusive
double-square cross braces for rugged durability. By adjusting the
back wheels the seat can be lowered from 18" to 16" from floor. Tires
are extra large 24" molded 8" x 2" semi pneumatic wheel for easier moving.
Same as above for 850 lb 32" X 22" seat.
Now that we have covered the essentials for a Bariatric Room there is one more issue that needs to be covered.
Visitors...this problem usually runs in families. Where are they going to sit? Depending upon the patient's condition they may want to spend the night? Here is the perfect solution.
